BOXING.

GORDON DISQUALIFIED. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. The Council of the New Zealand Boxing Association, at a special meeting to-day, heard the evidence of Clarrie Gordon (Auckland) on the question whether he should not be further dealt with as a result of his contest with Jim Griffin (Wellington) on November G. In that contest Gordon was knocked out by Griffin 2min 23sec after the start, the referee declaring it no contest, on the ground that the blow Gordon received was not physically hard enough to knock him out. „

The council heard the evidence of E. Horan, Gordon’s trainer, and also had before it a written statement from Gordon. The council decided to disqualify Gordon for three years. All the evidence will be sent to the association’s appeal committee in Auckland. It is understood that Gordon is appealing to this committee.
