PUBLIC NOTICES. GOODS SERVICES CHARGES. A DECISION of the Goods Service Charges Tribunal increases existing goods-service charges in undermentioned district as set out hereunder as from Ist December, 1944. Description of group of goods-ser-vices affected by decision is as follows: — NO. 1 CANTERBURY. The area to which this decision applies is that part of Canterbury Pro[vincial District lying between Waipara and Rangitata rivers which is included in Canterbury schedule area, excluding therefrom Banks Peninsula. GENERAL: (1) Where a charge for extra labour is fixed at not less than 3/6 per hour, the rate shall not be increased; but where a lower labour charge is fixed it. is to be increased to 3/0 per hour. (2) Where a labour charge is fixed on a per unit basis for special work (e.g., sheeting trucks, bagging coal, stacking firewood in trucks), such charge shall not be increased. (8) Where a minimum charge is fixed for a special trip to pick up a parcel, such charge shall not be increased. (4) Where reference is made in any schedule to the Licensing Authority as the rate-fixing authority, the reference is to be deemed to be to the Tribunal. (5) Where, owing to the uneven graduation of charges in any mileage scale, a lower rate would appear to be payable for any specified distance than for a shorter distance, the rate payable is to be the higher rate. (G) Where special penalty rates are provided, e.g. in the case of absence of facilities for loading pigs, wool, etc., such rates shall not be increased. (7) Where a schedule makes no provision for contracts being entered into between operators and dairy factory companies, bobby-calf, pig and other stock pools and timber millers, such contracts may be entered into subject to the charges being fixed or approved by the Tribunal. (S) Nothing in this decision shall apply to or affect any charges payable under contracts for the carriage of goods at rates other than schedule rates. (9) This decision shall come into force and be operative on and from first day of December, 1944; and schedule charges in respect of which percentage increases are herein authorised are declared to be the respective schedule charges as prescribed and in force on fifteenth day of December, 1942. The said schedule charges, subject to amendments herein authorised, are hereby confirmed. (1) CANTERBURY.
