THE WEATHER.
PLEASANTLY WARM TO-DAY. The sun shone Avarmly from a cloudscattered sky at Ashburton to-day, the atmosphere being warm. There Avas a gentle northerly breeze. The maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday were 58 and 46 degrees, compared Avith 59.3 and 41 on Tuesday. The barometer to-day registered 29.83 inches, against 29.87 yesterday. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON,) This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: General situation: An anti-cyclone centred to the nortli-Avest covers the Dominion. A trough of loav pressure is approaching Southland from the west. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morroAV is as f olloavs : Northerly to north-westerly winds, becoming fresh or strong. Fair to fine, but some rain developing about the ranges to-morroAV. Temperatures moderate, but rising. Further outlook: Cool south-Avester-lies probable on Saturday, with some showers. i
