(Rec. 11.30) NEW YORK, Nov. 2S. “Japanese airmen, desperately retaliating for the raids on Tokio attacked this stronghold twice yesterday,” says a United Press correspondent at Saipan. “Only a few planes took part in the first attack but the second, a much stronger wave, attacked in broad daylight. It was completely defeated. Our Army pilots chased the Japanese as far as Iwojima and the Bonins, while island batteries brought down at least seven planes. : ,
