FAREWELL GATHERING
PRESENTATION AT EALING The Ealing Hall was packed when residents, friends and relatives from surrounding districts met to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs G. W. South and family, who are leaving for Geraldine after a residence of 20 . years in the Ealing district. Mr H. C. B. Withell eulogised the sterling qualities of tlie guests and wished them success and happiness in their new home and undertakings. He presented Mr South with a substantial cheque as a mark of the esteem in which he and his family are held. Floral sprays were presented to Mrs South and Miss Joan South, and a posy to Miss Norma South by Mrs W Giddings, and buttonholes to Mr South and Mr lan South by Mrs Davis. Appreciation of the valuable work of Mrs and Miss South for the Ladies’ Guild, Red Cross and Women’s Institute was expressed by Mrs Davis. On behalf .of the. Presbyterian Church, the Rev. R. Taylor (Hinds), paid a tribute to the sterling qualities of the guests. Reference was made to the presence of very old residents of South Canterbury, Mr and Mrs J. South (Geraldine), and Mr and Mrs Cain (Tenruka). A welcome was extended to Gunner F. Ellery, who was recently invalided home from Italy.
