NATIONAL SAVINGS.

ASHBURTON'S GOOD RECORD. Ashburton was one of the few towns in New Zealand to attain its full number of weekly quotas in National Savings for the 116 weeks which ended on December 21, 1943, according to a bulletin issued by the National War Savings Committee, in Wellington. In the Christchurch Postal District, towns which subscribed all their weekly quotas for that period were: Ashburton (116), Cheviot (116), Hawarden (116), and Kaikoura (116). Other towns throughout New Zealand that were also successful for 116 weeks were. New Plymouth, Hawera, Urenui, Weber and Hunterville.

ONLY £lO7 IN HAND THIS WEEK.

Investments in National Savings at Ashburton totalled only £lO7 when the Post Office closed last evening. To avoid making further inroads on the reserve in hand the public are urged to invest as freely as possible.
