INVASION PRELUDE?

(Rec. 3.5) WASHINGTON. Mar. 31 The United States naval attack on Palau is regarded as a prelude to the invasion of the Carolines, says the United Press. It is doubtful, however, if landings in the Carolines will be made at once, since this would necessitate a long, exposed American supply line through areas where the Japanese still maintain many powerful strongholds. Palau is believed to be the main supply link between Japan and Truk, and if Admiral Nimitz can knock out Palau it would facilitate greatly the invasion of the central or eastern Carolines, which have been under almost daily aerial attack.
