MILLERTON DISPUTE.
MINERS' REQUEST GRANTED. (P.A.) WESTPORT, January 13. Yesterday a Coal Commission, coi prising Messrs C. Strongman and : Prendeville, sat at Millerton to i quire into the dispute between tl Millerton Miners’ Union and the agement about having the run of co for home consumption. After a loi debate, lasting from 2.30 until 6.; p.m., the council decided that tl miners’ request should be granted. Mr Prendeville communicated wi the Hon. A. McLagan (Minister Manpower) to-day, and got an assi ance for the union that a doctor wou be dispatched to Millerton at s early date. This decision Avas .sat factorily received. The Miners’ Union called a genei meeting of members at Millerton f this evening, but because of the s sence of Birclifield and Grahity me bers, the meeting was adjourned t 11 a.m. to-morroAv.
