HOLIDAY HOURS.
The following holiday hours will be observed at the Ashburton Post Office:
Christmas Day
Telephone Exchange, open continu ously; other branches, closed all day.
Boxing Day.
Telephone Exchange, open continuously; telegraph office, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Telegrams may be lodged at the telegraph office, first floor, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mails for principal offices close at 9 a.m.
, New Year’s Day.
Telephone Exchange, open continuously; telegraph office, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; other branches, closed all day. Telegrams may be lodged at the telegraph office, first floor, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, January 3. Telephone Exchange, open continuously; telegraph office, 9 a,m, to noon. Other branches, closed all day. Telegrams may be lodged at the telegraph office, first floor, 9 a.m. to noon. Mails for principal offices close at 9 a..m. A clearance of street receivers in the business area will be made at 9 a.m. on December 27, and January 3. Postmen’s deliveries will not be made on December 25, 27, or on January 1 and 3. Tlie usual hours of attendance will be observed on December 28 and January 4.
Mails for the north close at Ashbur ton as follows: —
Monday to Friday —7 a.m., 11 a.m.; 3 p.m., and letters only 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday Guard’s van 3.37 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday— Guard’s van, 5.13 p.m. Saturdays only late fee at guard’s van, 12.10 p.m.; 12.30 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.13 p.m. 'Mails for the south close as follow: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday—7 a.m,, late fee at Post Office 9.25 a.m., late fee at Guard’s van 10.4 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays—ll a.m., late fee at Post Office 1.45 p.m.; Guard’s van 2.6 p.m. Monday to Friday (inclusive)— 8 p.in., letters only Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin and south of Dunedin.
Air Mail Services. Trans-Tasman air mails will be despatched as opportunity offers. Air mails within New Zealand close at the Ashburton Post Office: Northbound —Monday, 5 a.m., 8 p.m. Tuesday to Friday (both included), 7 a.m., 8 p.m. South-bound— Monday to Friday (both included), 7 a.m.
Overseas Mails (Outward).
Mails for overseas will be clbsed and forwarded as opportunity offers
