Nurse' Kathleen Bland, of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service, is promoted to Sister, states a Gazette notice.
Messrs T. S. Hume, H. L. Noble and D. G. Whyte, of Ashburton, have passed the written part of the examination of electrical Wiremen and Messrs W. B. Blackie and E. R. Cleland have passed the practical part.
Subject to the approval of the Minister of Health, Mr W. P. Bryant, of the Fairfield Freezing Works, has been appointed chief engineer at the Ashburton Public Hospital. He was selected from more than 50 applicants.
A Gazette notice states that Major p. A. Bergman, New Zealand Army Service Corps, ceases to be seconded to the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force and is reposted to the Territorial Force. Temporary Second Lieutenant A. McClure is promoted temporary lieutenant.
As a mark of respect to Mr Charles Henry Cook, a former foreman of the County Council, whose funeral was to-day, the flag was flown at halfmast at the County Office. A similar procedure was observed at the Servicemen’s Club, Mr Cook having been a member of the Returned Services’ Association.
