ON THE HIGH SEAS.

FRENCH BATTLESHIP RICHLIEU. SECRET GUNS AND EQUIPMENT, (N.Z. Press Association— Copyright.) (Rec. 1,40 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 19.

The French battleship Richlieu, armed with secret guns and equipment, is again on the high seas ready for action, says Reuter’s correspondent at Algiers. The Richlieu, which was damaged by the British in the attack on Dakar, was patched up and sent to New York last February, being recommissioned there. General Giraud and. Admiral Sir John Cunningham inspected the Richlieu in Algiers harbour before her departure for secret waters. She was so cunningly camouflaged that her immensely long, sleek shape was difficult to discern from 300 yards. The Richlieu’s crew includes a number of Frenchmen who were transferred to America and specially trained to fire her new armament. —British Official Wireless.
