RELEASE OF MOSLEY.
ON MEDICAL GROUNDS. (N.Z. Prass Association—Copyright.) LONDON, Nov. IS. The Home Secretary (Mr Herbert Morrison) has on medical grounds suspended the detention order . made against Sir Oswald Mosley in May, 1940, and under the defence regulations has authorised his release subject to certain security conditions. Lady Mosley, who has been similarly detained since June, 1940, is also being released, also subject to restrictions.
PROTEST BY TRADES UNION. (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 18. The General Executive Council of the Transport and General Workers' Union passed a resolution: “This Council heard with alarm and dismay the Home Secx-etary’s decision to re lease Sir Oswald and Lady Mosley. This Council pressed for reconsiders tion of the decision and regard it as a grave reflection and insult to the fighting services who are making such sacrifices in the interests of freedom and democracy. Having regard to Sit Oswald Mosley’s past record this Council feels there is no justification whatever for his release, which will be regarded by British people, who made such efforts to defeat Fascism, as an indication that the Government is wavering in its adherence to the principles for which we are fighting, at the same time playing down to those traitorous elements with which Sir Oswald Mosley has been associated.”
