GREECE, ITALY AND THE AEGEAN FIVE ENEMY DESTROYED (Rec. 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. IS. An air communique says that heavy bombers yesterday attacked Eleusis airfield (Athens), and medium bombers escorted by long-range fighters bombed the airfield at Kalamiki, both with good results. Fighter-bombers and fighters carried out offensive patrols and attacked enemy communications in the battle area. Light bombers on Tuesday bombed industrial targets on the west coast of Italy, opposite Elba. In these operations five enemy aircraft were destroyed. A Middle East communique says that Hurricanes attacked Crete yesterday, hits on motor transport being observed. Spitfires made offensive reconnaissance in the Rhodes area without incident. A small supply vessel w r as attacked and left smoking off Crete. All our planes returned. Another report says that the airfield at Eleusis was attacked yesterday for the third time by Mitchells, and yesterday "unescorted Flying Fortresses flew through a heavy anti-aircraft barrage to drop bombs on the hangars and administrative buildings and nine adjacent structures. One side of the field was pot-holed along its entire length, and the revetments were also hit. No enemy fighters were encountered. Mitchells escorted by Lightnings also attacked the airfield at Kalamaki (in the Athens area), scoring hits on hangars and grounded aircraft. British Official Wireless.
