RESCUER INJURED.
Private J. E. Murphy, of New York, broke (ns neck when he dived into a shallow river somewhere in England 1 o rescue a drowning man. Though in great pain, he dragged the drowning man to the bank. Murphy recovered, and later it was announced that he had been presented with the Soldier’s Medal for heroism.
