ANNUAL MEETING.
ALLENTON SWIMMING CLUB MAY GO INTO RECESS. Although last season was an unfortunate one for the Allenton Swimming Club, there being no baths available in that part of the town, the financial statement presented at the annual meeting of the club revealed a credit balance of £4O 19s Bd, an increase of £3 16s 3d on that for the previous year. In his report the secretary (Mr K. Plunkett) expressed thanks to the East Ashburton Swimming Club for the use of its baths for the Allenton annual carnival, which was one of the most successful held by the club. Many members were serving with the forces overseas.
The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr L. R. Clarke; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames Plunkett and Eaden, Messrs H. Rainey, M. Campbell, E. C. Bathurst and H. Rollinson; club captain, Mr K. Plunkett; vice-captain, Miss D. McCrea; secretary, Mr K. Plunkett; assistant secretary and treasurer, Miss Y. Rollinson; commitlee, Messrs N. and J. Campbell, Messrs C. Welch, J. Childs, W. James, IT. Silverwood, A. Mathieson, R. Plunkett, J. Bell, N. Olds and D. McCrea; liandicappers, Miss McCrea and Mr K. Plunkett; delegates to centre, Messrs J. Lane, Welch and Silverwood.
A meeting of the committee was held immediately to discuss the question of obtaining water for the Allenton baths and a subcommittee was appointed to meet the school committee. If there are no results from this meeting the club will hand its funds to the school committee and go into recess.
