CHINESE CHARGED.

ALLEGED ASSAULT ON HIGH SEAS. (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, This Day. Two Chinese named Show Tsing and Chu Han Chan, first and second cooks respectively, appeared before Mr Abernethy, S.M., to-day, on a charge that on the high seas they did assault James Alcorn, a sailor, so as to cause actual bodily harm. After evidence had been given by the master of the vessel, the accused were remanded till November 3. The police indicated that a further remand would be sought as Alcorn, who was in hospital suffering from a knife Avound in the side, Avas seriously ill and it Avould be some time before he Avould be fit to give evidence.
