SOLDIERS HONOURED.

The public hall at Staveley was the scene of a very large gathering on Saturday evening, When residents and other friends entertained Privates 1). Lamb and G. tTrquhart. Visitors were present from as far afield as Ashburton, Greenstreet, Methven and adjacent districts, bearing ample evidence of the respect with which the men and their families, both long settled in the district, are held. Presentations were made by Mr G. L. Bufton for the residents, Mrs S. T. Goldsmith (Staveley war workers), and Mrs E. J. Pawsey (Staveley Women’s Institute).

Music for dancing was provided by Mrs V. McLean and Mr L. H. Bansgrove, and extras were played by Mr W. Reveley and Master R. Pawsey. Mr C. McNeill was master of ceremonies.
