GRADING OF MEAT.

DAIRY BOARD'S OBJECTIONS (Sp.) AUCKLAND, October 12. “The Dairy Board does npt look with favour on the grading of meat for local consumption and is of the opinion that it is J not in the interests of dairy farmers, as it will preclude the sale of dairy cows, because cows other than heifers will be saleable only as boners or third grade, meat,” said Mr A. ‘J. Mitrdoch, northern ward member of the board, when commenting on the introduction of meat grading on November 15. “Grading wiU affect the incomes of dairy farmers, and, further, it will affect the meat position, which is such that all classes are necessary to keep up meat supplies,” he continued. “The board has taken the course of forwarding to the department a resolution recommending that grading should not be. introduced until the end of the war, in the interests of all parties concerned.”
