IMPRESSIVE DISPLAY.

NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE BAND. An impressive display given by the Band of the Royal New Zealand Air Force in East Street this afternoon wilL do much to swell local patriotic fuinds and an encouraging sum had been collected as early as 3 p.m. A feature of the performance was an exhibition of slow marching. The band marched from the Post Office to the patriotic stall and there carried out ceremonial marching. The band, under the deputy-conduc-tor (Warrant Officer Richard Herman Simpson) then presented a programme of marches and other music. The Mayor (Dr. J. Connor) briefly welcomed the band and urged the public to give their utmost support. Since the inauguration of this band, he said, it had been instrumental in raising over £130,000. Flight-Lieutenant H. Gladstone Hill (director of music for the Royal New Zealand Air Force) was the announcer.
