(From the “Guardian,” Aug. 26, 1918) Effects of Winter. —-As a consequence of the severe nature of the past winter, pastures are now bare, and there is little sign of a growth in grass which came away much earlier last year. The season being so far advanced, the turnip feed available, with the exception of swedes, of which there is a limited supply, is now of poor quality, and the sheep are showing the effects of the shortage.
