Reference to the passing of Mrs A. Moore, who was a member of the Hinds Presbyterian Church for many years*, was made at the morning sex - - vice by tho Rev. W. H. Carroll.

Mr R. ,T. McLennan, of Rio Grande, Sierra del Fuogo (formerly of Ashburton), has again been appointed judge of Corriedalo slieep at the Palermo Agricultural and Pastoral Show at Buenos Aires next month.

Mr G. F. Francis, the newly-ap-pointed manager of the Ashburton branch of tho Bank of New South Wales, arrived in Ashburton this afternoon and will take over his new duties to-morrow. Mr Francis, previously manager of the Patea. branch, replaces Mr C. Rosier, who will return to his position with the Christchurch branch. Mr Francis was employed at the Ashburton branch for about four years just after the last war. ,

Mr F. Langstone, M.P. for Waimarino, has indicated that he does not wish to be referred to as honourable. A recent Gazette notice stated that approval had been given for tho retention of tho title honourable by Mr Langstone, who was a Cabinet Minister for more than three yoars, assuming office when tho Labour Government was first returned to power in 1935, and holding office until last year.
