FINAL FIGURES.

THE ELECTION IN EIRE. FIANNA FAIL SEATS LESS. (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, June 25. Final figures for the Eire election are: —Fianna Fail, 07; Fine Fael, 34; Labour, 17; Farmers, 9; Independents, 13.

The state of the parties before the election was: —Fianna Fail, 77; Fine Gael, 45; Labour, 9; Independents, 7. The Press Association’s correspondent in Dublin says although Mr De Valera has lost a clear working majority over the combined opposition parties, relations between the Fianna Fail and the smaller opposition groups may easily enable Mr De Valera to come to sound arrangements whereby his Government may carry on for a considerable time. The Labour deputies, who are the mpst powerful of the smaller groups, have been always more sympathetically disposed toward Mr De Valera than to Mr W. T. Cosgrave (Leader of the Opposition) and Mr De Valera, had to rely on them in earlier administrations to preserve the Government’s stability. The new strength of the Farmers’ Party introduces a more incalculable element which is likely, to influence Mr De Valera’s agricultural policy. In a statement at Dublin on the result of the election, Mr do Valera said the Dail would be convened at the earliest possible opportunity to nominate a leader. That would determine tho Government and the policy to be pursued.
