AIR TRAINEES VISITED.
HON. F. JONES IN CANADA. (P.A.) AVELLINGTON, June 27. A message from a special correspondent at Ottawa (on June 20) states that the New Zealand Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) has been greatly impressed, with the new methods and ingenious apparatus installed in the various Canadian stations established under the air training plan. Ho has also been impressed by the high standard of the accommodation and the recreational facilities for trainees. Ho found that the station commanders are men of a good type, who show tlio keenest interest in the welfare of their pupils. The weather interfered with Air Jones’s itinerary, hut in tlio last seven days ho covered almost 4000 niilos by aeroplane. Ho visited nine widelyseparated centres at which there are New' Zealanders. At one of these, 210 men. paraded. The commanding officers expressed the utmost satisfaction with the high standard reached bv New* Zealand trainees. Air Jones is continuing liis tour, and will visit other stations where New Zealanders are located.
