IN RAID ON HULS.

AUCKLAND SQUADRON LEADER.

(Special Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.). .(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON. June 24. Squadron Leader W. \. C. Compton, of Auckland, who last week returned to operations as'squadron-lpadev supernumerary, has led his wing for the first time. He accompanied Flying Fortresses to Huls. Squadron Leader Compton said: .“Wo saw 30 to 40 Foclce Wulfs 100, which were preparing to attack the Flying Fortresses from the port side. Our wing turned into them and they dived away. v Every time we tried to attack the Foclce Wulfs they were not having any and we were able to bring back the Fortresses unmolested.” Squadron Leader Alan Deere led another wing protecting Flying Fortresses on this same operation.
