GERMAN RUBBER.
LONDON. June 23
Yesterday’s American air attack on the German synthetic rubber plant at Hills draws attention to and underlines the co-oidination of the widespread Allied offensive against, the enemy economic front.
Five weeks ago the Royal Navy sent to the bottom 30,000 tons of natural rubber which was travelling from the Far East to Germany—estimated to be one-sixth of the total of Germany’s annual requirements of all types of rubber. Now one of the most important synthetic rubber factories Germany lias, has probably been “sent to tlie bottom” by the United States Army Air Force. Reconnaissance photographs show that no part of the factory escaped bits. The Germans have already boon forced to rely in the main on synthetic and reclaimed rubber, the joint, annual output of which is not enough to meet her military needs.
