WELCOME HOME.
SOLDIER AT PENDARVES. A very happy evening was spent in the Pendarves Hall last Friday, when visitors from Dorie, Rakaia, Methven, Ashburton, Cliertsey, Waltanui and Seafield joined the residentsi of Pendarves in welcoming home Private O. Sprott, recently invalided from overseas Eulogistic speeches of welcome were ma'de by Messrs F. Ironside, J. Cuthbert, the Rev. E. B. Stevenson (Rakaia), and Mr F. Alexander spoke on behalf of the Returned Services’ Association, and*Dorie friends. A monetary gift from residents was made by Mr Ironside.
Novelty dances 'were won by Miss Painter and Mr Deuart, Mrs Kingsbury and Mr Lucas, Miss A. Banks and Mr R. Bruce, Miss J. Cross and Mr L. Doig, Miss I. Grice and Mr J. Martin, Miss Carmichael and Mr Gardiner.
