WATER RACES.

Sir, —I fail to understand why there is no water in the races. The Council put men on cleaning the races hero and there. Mine are being cleaned and still no water and at the farmer’s expense—not the Council’s. Thero was a penny extra put on last year, making it 7d a chain, and still there is no better service. I would suggest that the Council send these men up to the hills with their shovels and put in a dam as it is downhill from the hills to the sea. RATEPAYER. [When this letter was referred to the County Engineer (Mr IT. A. Vozoy) ho had no comment to make.-—Ed. “Guardian”.]
