A letter expressing the hope for a speedy recovery from her illness will be sent to Mrs Arthur Grigg, M.P., by the Ashburton High School Board.
Second Lieutenant W. G. Corbett has been gazetted a temporary lieutenant in'the New Zealand Temporary Staff.
At the close of tho evening service at the Baptist Church yesterday, a presentation was made to Miss Robina Webster, who is leaving Ashburton shortly to reside in tho North Island.
Major A. S. Kennedy, M.M., has resigned his commission in tho Home Guard, states the latest Gazette. Lieutenant L. C. Nash has been promoted a temporary captain and Mr J. Lane has been appointed a temporary second-lieutenant. Leading Aircraftman T. Bradley was presented with a hold-all on behalf of the Ashburton Fire Brigade by the Superintendent (Mr H. Hefford) at a gathering of tho Brigade last week. Mr H. W. H. Smallbono (chairman of the Fire Brigade Committee of the Borough Council) was present and extended to Leading Aircraftman Bradley the best wishes of the Council,
