FIFTY YEARS SYNE. (From tlio “Guardian,” May 3, 1893). Successful Trial of Digging Ploughs —A very successful trial of five Howard digging ploughs was held last Thursday on Mr M. Ingle Brown’s station, Highbank, near Mothven, in a paddock overgrown with cocksfoot. The ploughs worked remarkably well, and completely covered all surface rubbish and broke the furrow up so well that it will not be necessary to harrow before and after drilling* the seed. Cattle Trespassing—To prevent the trespass of cattle in the Domain in the evenings and at night, the Domain Board has decided to instruct the caretaker to close the Baric Street gate at 5 o’clock every evening.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. (From the “Guardian,” May 3, 1918). Lagmlior School Opened—A pleasing ceremony took place at Lagmlior this afternoon, on the occasion of the opening of the new school, which lias been recently built on the land donated by Messrs Buckley and Cow. Mr Howell presided, and short addresses were delivered by Messrs J. Cow, J. Tucker, and others. Mrs J. Cow declared the school open.
