Mr P. Freeman left to-day for Barinevirkc on annual leave. He will be absent a fortnight.
Miss Aririe Gallagher, only daughter of Mr and ‘Mrs R. Gallagher, of Mayfield, left to-day for a South. Island aerodrome for training.
Mr J. R. Dunlop (Stationmaster at Chertsey) has resumed duties after undergoing ari operation in the Ashburton Public Hospital.
Mrs D. R. McMurchy, Mayfield, lias received advice that her son, Colin David McMurchy, wdio is training in Canada, has been promoted to ser-geant-pilot.
Mr E. J. Fawcett has been appointed Director-General of Agriculture, and Mr R. B. Tennent acting-Director-General of Agriculture, states the Gazette. 4
