PETROL, TEA AND SUGAR

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS, (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In a sttaenieut to-dav the Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. O. Sullivan) announced that it has been decided by the War Cabinet that the petrol ration for private motorists during May shall be at the same rate as lor some months past. Accordingly Coupon 26, at half its face value, will he available during May. It was announced to-day by the Food Rationing Controller (Mr ,J. 10. Thomas) that witli tlie approval of the Minister of Supply and Munitions and the War Cabinet, the following would bo the tea and sugar rations for May: 'Tea, eight ounces each consumer against coupons to 28 inclusive, each coupon having the value of two ounces.

Sugar, three pounds each consumer against coupons 25 to 28 inclusive, each coupon valued at 12 ounces. Consumers must re-register with their retailer for their supplies of sugar before tlie end of April (to-day). Allowances to manufacturers remain the same.as for April. Mr Thomas added: “As there appears to he some confusion as regards the marmalade or jam issue of throe pounds of sugar against coupon 49, I wish again to make it clear that the three pounds is the total extra, issue for the four months up to July 31 and may be collected only once during the period.” /
