ALLIED FORCES IN TUNISIA.

SWEEP ACROSS MEDITERRANEAN NINETEEN ENEMY DOWNED. (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright). (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) . LONDON, Jan. 25. An Allied North Africa communique states: “The enemy occupied a hill at Djebel Bou Dabous, on the east‘"side of Ousseltia valley in Tunisia. Eight bombers, fighter-bombers and fighters supported our troops during the day. “On the previous night bombers attacked enemy communications and the aerodrome- in the Kairouan region. Heavy bombers attacked docks at yesterday, one ship being sunk. Many combats Avith enemy fighters occured, 19 of them being destroyed Avithout loss.

“A sweep by bombers and fighters betAveen Tunis and Sicily resulted in the sinking of two small enemy vessels. One- enemy bomber was destroyed.

“Our fighters, attacking the- road from Tripolitania to Tunisia destroyed many enemy vehicles and destroyed one* enemy fighter. Three enemy bombers were destroyed last night. “Seven of our aircraft are missing.” —British Official Wireless.

TARGETS IN SICILY BOMBED.

SMALL SHIPPING ATTACKED

(Rec. 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 25

A communique issued in Cairo states that "our light bombers on Friday night attacked the most easterly enemy landing grounds and started fires. Targets, in Sicily Avere also attacked. Fight-er-bombers continued their assault against targets in Sicily yesterday and small shipping off Tunisia was bombed and machine-gunned.
