MYSTERIOUS DEATH.
MAORI WOMAN’S INJURIES.
FOUND UNCONSCIOUS IN CAR. (P.A.) PALMERSTON N., This Day. A Maori woman, Miss Alice Takarua, aged about 30, who resided with her parents at Motuiti Pa, near Foxton, died in the early hours this morning under unusual circumstances. go far as has been ascertained she went for a drive in a car with a man. They returned to Motuiti about midnight and deceased’s brother found her in the car in an unconscious condition. He. lifted her out of the car and the motorist drove on.
Dr. Crawford, of Foxton, was sent for, and arrived shortly afterwards. He found the woman alive but unconscious She died a few minutes later. The Foxton police were immediately informed, and Constable J. Forsyth at once communicated 'with Inspector Scott, of Palmerston North. The Inspector and Senior-Detective Meiklejolm proceeded to Foxton. Investigations are proceeding. It is understood that the identity of the driver has been established.
A Press Association telegram from Foxton gives Miss Takarua’s age as 20,' and says she was suffering from injuries to her head.
