MAIN FORCE SWEEPS TO WEST.

The Bth Army has occupied all the principal harbour area of Tripoli, ,says Reuter’s correspon- . dent at Cairo. General Sir Bernard Montgomery’s main force bypassed Tripoli and-swept westward, leaving the infantry to effect the occupation. Allied pilots over v Tripoli reported that considerable demolition is in progress. The Morocco radio announced that the Sth Army has entered the suburbs of Tripoli. , An earlier message says: The Sth Army’s artillery is already bombarding Tripoli from the heights dominating the town and no chance is left for successful defence. Marshal Rommel yesterday made a definite stand at Azizia, south of Tripoli, with the remnants of his tanks, in an effort to slow up the Sth Army and prevent any risk of his main force being cut off or hindered in the movement to Tunisia.
