FOUGHT IN NORTHERN WATERS.

ANNOUNCEMENT BY ADMIRALTY.

LONDON, Jan. 1

There has been no further news of the naval action in northern waters, which was reported in. the following Admiralty announcement yesterday: “Early to-day our ships made contact with an enemy force in northern waters. Duping .the ensuing engagement; an enemy cruiser was damaged and withdrew. An enemy destroyer was severely hit, and when last seen she was in a sinking condition. Opertions continue.”
