A DISPLAY OF WORK.
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. A new method of celebrating Sunday school anniversaries was witnessed in the Church of Christ Hall last evening. In place of the usual anniversary concert, a display of work was given. The hall was decorated by typical posters prepared by scholars during their ordinary work. The main part of the programme, led by the Rev. A. D. Lowe, consisted of 'a demonstration of a typical school session, entitled “The Sunday School in Action.” Special songs by the children were a feature of the demonstration. Scripture was read byi Elsie Scott, and a lesson, “The Story of the Church,” was given by Mr Lowe. Mr Lowe was assisted by Ivan Dailey, who told the story of St. Augustine. A period of poster and model making followed the lesson.
Later in the evening, Miss Scott’s class sang the missionary song “Africa, Sad Afi’ica.” An offering was received toward the school missionary fund. Outstanding among the exhibits of work was a large plasticine model of an African village, prepared byi the scholars to illustrate the work of the Churches of Christ Mission Station at Dadaya, South Africa. The anniversary services will be continued oil Sunday, when Mr Lowe will preach his farewell services.
