FAREWELL SOCIAL.
THE REV. AND MRS W. N. FLETT.
There was a large attendance at the Baptist Schoolroom last evening, when a farewell social was tendered to the Rev. and Mrs W. N. Flett. The clmrch secretary (Mr R. H. Loy) presided. Representatives of the various church organisations spoke in appreciation of the good work done by Mr and Mrs Flett and expressed regret at their departure. The Rev. A. D. Lowo spoke for the Ashburton Ministers’ Association, of which Mr Flett has been president for some time. On behalf of the congregation, Mr Loy presented Mr and Mrs Flett with a sum of money, and wished them Godspeed in their new home at Wanganui. Tn reply, Mr and Mrs Flett spoke of the happy 2! years he and his wife had spent in Ashburton, and expressed appreciation of all help and kindness shown to them. Items were given by Misses O. Beck, B. Tucker, E. Blackie, R. Webster, Mrs W. Gatchell, Messrs C. .Hopwood, W. Cates and Iv. Norrish.
Supper was served by the ladies
