FOOTHILLS SCHOOLS SPORTS. Postponed from the previous week on account of unfavourable weather, the annual sports meeting of the Foothills Sports Association was held in Mr C. L. Austin’s paddock at iStaveley on Friday. A keen wind marred what was otherwise a pleasant day, until almost 3 p.m., when the sky became clouded and a southerly snap, accompanied by bail and sleet, prevented the running of the final two events.
The Association’s shield, for most points in championship events, was retained by Mount Somers (holders), with Springburn second and Combined Schools (Alford Forest and Rusliside sale-charge schools) third. The Rev. R. Taylor presented the shield to a representative of the winning school. Results are as follow (M.S. denoting Mt Somers, S. Springburn and C. Combined Schools): — Girls’ Events..
