WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

THE WAKANUI BRANCH. The monthly meeting <cf the Wakanui Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs D. Dick ((president). -One new member was welcomed. It was decided to hold the ninth birthday party on June 3. Mesdames Hendrie and Watson reported on the annual meeting of the Mid-Canterbury Federation. Ten pairs of knitted mittens and nine klmki handkerchiefs were handed in for the Bed Cross. Airs Dick was nominated as delegate to the Dominion conference. Monthly competitions, judged by Airs Pritchard and Miss Neill, resulted: :;Bloom (large), Airs Atoore 1, Airs Dick 2, ATi-s Watson 3; (small), ATrs Dick 1, Airs Moore 2, Airs Taylor 3; mittens, Airs Kingsbury 1, Airs Dick 2, Airs Watson 3; ironed serviette, Airs Kingsbury and Airs Dick (equal) 1, Mrs Watson 2. The hostesses were Airs Sinclair and Miss G. Butterick.
