NEW BASIC WAGE.
INCREASES IN AUSTRALIA (Rec. 12.33) MELBOURNE, This Day. Because of the rise in the cost of living the basic wage in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia will be increased by 2s a week, in Victoria by 3s and in Western Australia and Tasmania by 1-s. The now basic wage rate in Sydney will he £4 13s, Melbourne £4 12s, Brisbane £4 Bs, and Perth £4 7s,
