THE WEATHER.
FROST OF 8.4 DEGREES. A frost of 8.4 degrees, the hardest this autumn, was experienced in Ashburton yesterday morning. Conditions throughout the day were sunny, with hardly a cloud in the sky. A southwest breeze blew in the morning but changed to the south-east during the afternoon. The sky was overcast for the greater part of to-day but the sun shone at intervals. The maxima mand minimum temperatures yesterday were 57.5 and 37.5 degrees, compared with 56.3 and 30.3 on Saturday. The barometer to-day stood at 29.82 inches, against 29.73 yesterday. There were two points of rain on Saturday afternoon. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate winds from a northerly quarter predominating. Weather fair to fine, although cool with some frosts. Further outlook: Fair.
