SHORTAGE OF PAPER.

AUCKLAND BUTCHERS’ PLAINT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April 17. The time is not far distant when it will be necessary for customers to take basins to shops to collect meat, owing to the shortage of grease-proof paper, wrapping paper, and labour for delivery, according to the representative of a large butchery company. “The position regarding grease-proof paper is extremely serious,” he said. “Basins appear to be the only suitable containers.” “We are ui’ging customers to bring baskets, even sacks,” said another butcher. The Auckland Master Butchers’ Association recently considered a proposal to cut out all meat deliveries owing to the shortage of labour, but decided to carry on while the labour was available.
