55 SHIPS IN AMERICAN WATERS. NEW YORK, March 22. It is reported from Norfolk (Virginia) that the United States Navy has announced that enemy submarines last week sank three additional United States vessels described only as medium sized merchantmen. Eighteen members of the crews are missing from all the attacks. Sinkings in United States coastal waters since January 14 are now 55. Adding sinkings in Canadian and Caribbean waters, the total is more than 100.
