TOLL IN THE AIR
AXIS LOSE 293 IN WEEK. BRITISH LOSE ONLY SIXTEEN. FIGURES FOR LAST WEEK. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Roc. 0.55 a.m.) LONDON, March 23. For the first time for over 12 months no losses were suffered by either the Royal Air Force or the Luftwaffe in Western Europe last week. Weather conditions cut down operations to a minimum. Elsewhere, the Axis lost 293 aircraft —25 in the Middle East, 101 in the Far East and 167 on the Russian front. 'Hie Royal Air Force lost 16 in the Middle East.—British Official Wireless.
