WAIPIATA PATIENTS.

THE SANATORIUM COMMITTEE. Tivd AVaipiata Sanatorium Committee met at Dunedin last week. The chairman (Mr E. Macdonald, of F'airhe) presided, and Mr W. Bryant represented the .Ashburton Hospital .Board. The Medical Superintendent (Dr. A. Kidd) reported that during .January 76 patients had been admitted, 13 were discharged, and 130 vermin the institution at the end of the month. He recommended as suitable for admission to the sanatorium one patient from Southland, three from South Canterbury two from Waitnki, and one from Maniototo, a. total of seven. The-; secretary stated that one of these patients had been admitted, four were on the waiting list, and two had yet to apply. It was decided that capital proposals totalling £1325 for the ensuing year he submitted to the Department ol Health for provisional approval. The secretary reported that on Fell. 21 the Associated Boards had patients hi the institution as follows-.—South-land 69, South Canterbury 31, Ashburton 10, AVaitaki 6, South Otago 11. Vincent 4, Maniototo 3, a total of 134. Since the previous meeting three patients from two hospital districts had been discharged, and there was a waiting list of 12 patients from fi\ •' districts. The statement of receipts and payments showed that on January 31 theie was a credit balance of ,17405 10s Bd. Statements of receipts and payments for the 10 months ended Janary 31 showed the actual maintenance receipts to be £IOB7 8s 8d less than the estimate, and the actual maintenance payments £450 Os 6d more than the estimate. It was decided to hold the next jneeting on "Wednesday, March 25, at Orangapai.
