WOMAN DROWNED.

CRAMP WHILE SWIMMING (P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 20. Apparently developing cramp while swimming in the Waikato river, Miss Patricia Veronica Jew, aged 22 the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. H. Jew, Hamilton, disappeared and was drowned. Miss Jew was bathing with several friends. Shortly after 4 o’clock when in the water alone, she called for help, and then sank. Her friends at once swam to the spot, but could not locate her. The police dragged until nightfall without result.
