THE LATEST

MAINLY INFANTRY ACTION. TANKS SUFFGRT BOTH SIDES (Rec. 2.5 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 30. The new battle which developed in Cyrenaica is continuing, but it is stated %o be stabilising, according to an agency message from Cairo. An attempt by enemy armoured troops to break through to the westward by penetrating the positions of the infantry have so far failed and the situation is regarded as satisfactory, it is mainly an infantry battle, with tanks supporting both sides. All the remaining Axis tanks are engaged. Besides the commander of the 21st armoured division, taken east of Tobruk, a large number of other prisoners, including members of both pander divisions, are stated to have been taken.

In the frontier area the Indian troops are mopping up the remnants of the Axis forces.—British Official Wireless.
