DISTINCTLY HOPEFUL.
NO ENEMY PENETRATION. LATEST ATTACK REPULSED. (Roc. 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 30. The situation in Libya is regardable as distinctly hopeful and encouraging, said a military spokesman at Cairo. The Germans have failed to penetrate the British infantry positions on any front. The enemy’s entire remaining tank strength has launched its latest attack, mentioned in to-day’s communique. These tanks are supported by armoured cars and innumerable motor transport. Our field guns and antitank guns bore the brunt of the attack until our armoured formations rushed up and charged the Axis flank and prevented the advance. Our infantry attacks against the infantry in the rear of the panzers, also mentioned in to-day’s communique, was “ quite successful.”
The spokesman added: “Wo are sticking to our objective of hunting their tanks wherever they are, and until we have destroyed the last tank we will not think of anything else.”
