GREAT LAUGH TEAM.
BING CROSBY AND 808 HOPE. It may take love to make the world go round and money to make the mare go, but it takes only a camera and a few lights to start Bing Crosby and Bob Hope off on the ad-libbing duel. The top comedians of the screen and air are recognised as the finest laughmakers in either medium and when they are teamed, as they are in Paramount’s “Road to Zanzibar,” the results are little short of terrific.
“MARYLAND.” SPECTACULAR RACING FILM. In Darryl F. Zanuck’s teehnieolour production of “Maryland,” the soulstirring story captures the romance, colour and traditions of the profit South and is blended with comedy galore. The famous Maryland Hunt Gup Race, with flaming silks flashing against blue sky and green turf, as stout-hearted thoroughbreds compete, forms a breath-taking climax to the film. Featured in the cast are Walter Brennan, Fay Bainter, Brenda Joyce, John Payne, Charlie Ruggles, Hattie McDaniel and, Marjorie Weaver. Henry King directed.
