MAYER MISSES WIN.
Reading, which was beaten by half a head in the (Caulfield Cup, nearly provided film-magnate Louis B. Mayer With his first winner on an Australian course. This horse, which had only been purchased by Mr Mayer a few days earlier, just missed the £SOOO first prize, but returned £IOOO on Mr Mayor’s investment. It has boon suggested that Reading will be taken'to America for the Santa Anita Handicap which is valued at- £30,000.
